Strip Nails for Framing, Sheathing and Decking
Strip nails are collated fasteners commonly used as framing nails and construction nails, designed for use in pneumatic strip nailers for consistent, high‑speed fastening. They are widely used in residential and commercial construction where accuracy, holding strength, and efficient workflow are essential.
Available in a wide range of lengths, diameters, shank types, and finishes, strip nails support applications including framing, sheathing, decking, fencing, and general construction. Options such as smooth, ring, and screw shank designs offer varying levels of withdrawal resistance, while finishes like bright, electro‑galvanized, and hot‑dipped galvanized help match fasteners to interior or exterior job conditions. Common collation styles—including paper tape, wire weld, and plastic strip—allow users to select the right fastener for tool compatibility and jobsite preferences.
Strip nails are manufactured at consistent collation angles to ensure reliable feeding and drive performance in compatible nail guns. Designed for use with a wide range of framing nailers and pneumatic fastening tools, strip nails deliver dependable performance, clean installation, and the durability professionals rely on for structural and high‑volume fastening applications.
Start With Your Nailer's Angle
The angle is printed on the nailer's magazine. Match it and the nails feed. Miss it and they don't.
- 20 to 22 degree: plastic collated, full round head. Common where code requires full round heads.
- 28 degree: wire weld collated, clipped or offset round head. Compact, tight stacking.
- 30 to 34 degree: paper tape collated, clipped or offset round head. Less debris and fits tight spots.

Common Framing Sizes
Wall framing often uses 3-1/4" x .120" or .131" nails, and sheathing often uses 2-3/8" x .113". Follow your local building code and the project plans.
Joist Hanger and Connector Nails
For joist hangers, straps and other metal connectors, use short, thick connector nails sized for the connector. They're driven by hand or with a positive placement nailer and should match the connector maker's specs.

Strip Nail FAQs
What is the difference between 21, 28 and 30-degree nails?
The angle matches the magazine on your nailer. 21-degree nails use plastic strips and full round heads, 28-degree nails use wire weld and clipped or offset heads, and 30 to 34-degree nails use paper tape. A nailer only takes its own angle. Using a coil nailer instead? See our coil nails.
Can I use 30-degree nails in a 34-degree nailer?
Many 30 to 34-degree paper tape nailers accept nails across that range. Check your tool's manual to be sure.
Are clipped head nails allowed by code?
Some local codes require full round head nails for framing. Check your local code before you buy.
What nails do I use for joist hangers?
Use connector nails sized for the hanger, as listed by the connector maker, driven by hand or with a positive placement nailer.
Do you sell strip nails in bulk?
